SCYJ writes to Justice Secretary on Charlie Taylor review

The Standing Committee for Youth Justice (SCYJ) has written to the Justice Secretary, Elizabeth Truss, about Charlie Taylor’s review into the youth justice system and the Government’s response.

While welcoming elements of the Government’s response to Taylor’s review, SCYJ is disappointed the Government has not adopted a greater proportion of his recommendations or explained why it does not support them. We believe many of Taylor’s recommendations would help to reduce offending and reoffending and thus make communities safer.
